Matcha with Apple Syrup

Matcha with Apple Syrup
Best For: Sipping
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 1 (plus extra apple syrup)

Ingredients

    • 2 medium apples, roughly chopped (we like EverCrisp®, Fuji, or Gala)
    • 3 Tbsp light brown sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ½ cup water
    • ½ cup milk of choice
    • Matcha of choice

      Directions

        1. Add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt to a pan. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are softened.
        2. Allow apples to cool completely, then add to a blender with ½ cup of water. Add more as needed to thin out the mixture (if it looks like applesauce, it's too thick).
        3. Add blended apples back to pan and add vanilla extract. Continue to cook for 5-10 minutes until the liquid has reduced a touch and become more syrupy.
        4. Whisk together matcha and milk in a glass, then add 2 Tbsp apple syrup. Mix and add ice, then top with cold foam and cinnamon if desired.
