Apple Pie Granita

This refreshing apple pie granita, made with Gala apples, captures all the cozy flavors of your favorite fall dessert in an icy, spoonable treat. It's a simple and nostalgic way to cool down, perfect for summer. A dollop of homemade vanilla whipped cream adds a blend of creaminess that perfectly balances the spiced and cool apple granita.

Ingredients
- 2 Gala apples
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup water
- 6 oz. heavy whipping cream
- 3 Tbsp powdered sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
Directions
- Chop apples into small pieces.
- Add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and water to a saucepan.
- Heat over medium for about 20 minutes, until the sugar is dissolved and the apples are soft.
- Let the mixture cool, then blend until smooth.
- Pour the apple mixture into an 8 x 8 in. pan and place in the freezer.
- Freeze for at least 2 hours, until frozen solid, then use a fork to scrape the mixture into icy flakes.
- Return to the freezer for another 2 hours, scrape again, and freeze until ready to serve.
- In a medium bowl, whisk the heavy cream, powdered sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until stiff peaks form.
- Scoop the granita into bowls and top with a dollop of whipped cream.
- Finish with a sprinkle of cinnamon and enjoy!
